A dog is a man's best friend, right? So of course a dog seems like the pet of choice. If you are thinking about getting a dog here are some things you may want to consider before committing to such a responsibility.
Why are you buying a dog?
Maybe you are getting a dog for you to have as a companion or maybe it is for your kids. Whatever the reason be sure to know what that reason is because it can be crucial in deciding what type of dog.
What type of dog do you want?
The type of dog you want may not necessarily be the best type of dog for you. You really need to think of why you are getting one and the type of environment you are living in. Do you need a guard dog or a companion? If you live in an apartment of course you would need a house dog. If you have children it is best to get a dog that isn't very aggressive.
How much do you want to spend?
Some breeds of dog costs more than other breeds. Also it is important to think about housing for the dog, is it a house dog or a yard dog? There are also other costs such as, veterinarian bills, medicine, and food costs. The costs involved vary depending upon not only the breed but also whether the dog is kept inside or outside.
Other pets?
If you have other pets it may also be important to consider how your new dog will react in the environment with them. If you do have other pets its probably best to introduce your new dog when he/she is just a pup. It may also be good to stay away from some of the more aggressive breeds of dogs.
Regardless of what breed of dog you choose, remember to love your pets. For more information and tips concerning dogs click here.
